The Weinstein Family is the second episode of Season 3 of the American Supernanny show.

In addition to this episode, the Weinstein family members also appeared on the 100th Episode Special.

Episode summary[]

Jo visits the Weinstein family in Amherst, Ohio. Chia (29) and David (39) are parents to four rowdy children: 7-year-old McKenna (Kenny), 6-year-old Christina (Tina), 5-year-old Julia, and 2-year-old Robert.

With David working as a trucker away from home for over 10 days at a time, Chia is left to look after the kids all on her own. Kenny is highly sensitive & emotional. Julia pushes other people's buttons. Tina is the ringleader of the family as she loses her temper, talks back to Chia & David, & has an attitude problem. Robert likes to destroy things.

Bedtime is a disaster because the kids refuse to stay in their rooms & it takes hours to get these rabumctious kids to go to sleep.

David is frustrated with Chia's lack of authority, but compensates by behaving like a big bully with yelling, the occassional spanking, and leaving a very threatening physical demeanor around his kids. Both don't exactly see eye-to-eye when it comes to parenting because of this, and it's caused the pair to become on the verge of divorce.

Can Jo help this family & help David control his mean temper?

Episode Recap[]

Observation[]

David gives Jo a tour of the downstairs playroom, revealing all the colouring and graffiti around the place. Jo felt like she was in a Subway. When Robert went missing, Jo and Chia search high and low and thankfully, he was found safe in the driveway. David was unaware he went out. When David told the kids to go downstairs to play clean, he starts to bark orders. He eventually gets in Tina's face, and tells her to clean up, scaring her and the other kids.

After dinner, David wanted Kenny to do the dishes but she refuses to. Chia tells her to go upstairs, resulting in her and David arguing. When it was time for bed, Tina was refusing to do so, wanting to sleep with Chia. David chuckles, when he hears Tina scream "Shut up Chia!" Jo was shocked when she overheard them arguing, a second time. 2 hours later, Kenny comes out of her room, and David yell sat her to lay down, causing Kenny to scream and cry. 2 and half hours later, Jo decides she's seen enough, and leaves.

Parent Meeting[]

Jo talks to Chia and David about what she saw.

Teaching[]

Jo was ready to teach, and started off by having Chia and David write down, rules which they show to the kids. Afterwards, Jo takes David to the backyard, showing the body language of David fearing the kids. David quickly understands that he needs to learn to be nice. Jo then guides them through the Stay in Bed technique, when Christina starts to get out of bed.

The next day, Jo got Busy Bees outfits for the kids, and had them all work together to clean the playroom, something which surprised David. When it was lunch time Robert refuses to finish his lunch. Chia gives Robert a warning but he continues to not listen. Jo places Robert in timeout, during which, Robert started to say sorry to Chia early, in an attempt to end his discipline faster. Chia doesnt give in, and Robert finishes his timeout successfully. Jo then leaves the family for 4 days

Parents Evalution[]

4 days later, Jo returns to show Chia and David their test run.

Clip 1[]

At bedtime, Tina once again starts getting out of bed, however Chia and David are able to follow though. After cussing and banging on the door. Tina gave in and went to bed 45 minutes later. Jo praises Chia and David for how they did with the Stay In Bed technique.

Clip 2[]

Chia and the kids play with clay in the playroom.

Clip 3[]

David once again, starts to bark orders and starts to lose his cool. Jo decides they need to work on David's tone of voice.

Reinforcement[]

Jo had a plan to make it so that David realises he needs to control his tone of voice better. This plan involves Chia calling David when Jo takes him outside for a walk. When Chia calls David and he gets home, the kids give him a taste of his own medicine, and yell at him, to show what it feels like when he yells at them. David quickly decides not to raise his voice again. The last thing Jo has done, is to have Chia spell the word "Trust" blindfolded. Jo says her goodbyes, and leaves the Weinsteins, not before taking a picture of them all behind the "Trust" Chia had spelt.
